Purple Martins
Some of the busiest, fastest moving birds in the world, the Purple Martin flies like a bat, swooping down to capture insects for their young. Stopping the action is a challenge but reveals a beauty that just cannot be seen with the naked eye. These Martins were all taken at Sandpoint, Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron. Most were taken in the early morning to capture the magic color of these fascinating birds. To stop the action shutter speeds ranged from 1600th to 2500th of a second with high ISO of 800 to 1600.
